Le Rose Bowl, célèbre pour son match du 1er janvier, s'est tenu sans spectateurs en 2021 en raison de la pandémie de COVID-19, marquant un coup dur pour le football universitaire. Malgré une baisse de l'affluence ces dernières années – multipliée par sept entre 2012 et 2020 – ces arènes emblématiques attirent toujours des foules passionnées. Avec les vaccins, un retour aux stades pleins est espéré.
